Summary of Responsibilities
The Communications Specialist will:
Brand Management
• Develop and implement a unique brand strategy to ensure the visibility of the new Ipas DRC brand and program "Makoki Ya Mwasi", through all social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.) and website
• Attend Ipas-led and supported conferences, workshops, and webinars to meet communication needs of all projects
• Communicate and interact regularly with Ipas partners, to ensure all projects have consistency with brand image and quality
• Build and grow SRHR online community by engaging, educating, and interacting with social media platform followers (e.g., partners, youth, donors, local and global community members)
Digital Content Development and Management
• Créer et gérer un calendrier de publication pour tous les comptes de médias sociaux et le site Web d'Ipas RDC - identifier le type et le volume de contenu pour toutes les plateformes sur la base des meilleures pratiques @• Développer et publier un contenu régulier pour les médias sociaux et le site Web d'Ipas RDC axé sur la SDSR qui est précis, actuel, cohérent et reflétant la messagerie de marque et la stratégie de contenu numérique d'Ipas. Le contenu peut inclure des publications sur les réseaux sociaux, des infographies, des newsletters, des scripts vidéo, des articles de blog et tous les autres supports de communication et projets spéciaux internes et externes. @• Servir de point focal entre Ipas RDC et le web-designer @• Suivre et analyser le succès des communications numériques et fournir des rapports de situation réguliers sur l'engagement numérique
• Drive organic social media engagement by generating and executing a social media strategy across various platforms
• Lead and manage Ipas DRC digital chatbot communications campaign and contribute to meetings focused on optimizing user experience
• Manage the Ipas media tracking database using our internal platform
• Perform all other tasks related to the communication, visibility, archiving, and promotion of the "Makoki Ya Mwasi" brand
Writing/Editing
- Collaborate with Ipas staff and partners to document success stories and lessons learned that will be used to write and publish web stories and articles (French and English) on the Ipas Global and Makoki Ya Mwasi Website
- Develop and draft monthly newsletters to share program highlights, recent activities, and valuable information with Ipas network, partners, and donors
- Conduct interviews and collaborate with the communications team to coordinate video recording and multimedia productions
- Contribute to the design, filming, and broadcasting of the special program "Makoki Ya Mwasi”
Position Requirements
- A deep commitment and/or interest in learning about sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially safe abortion, contraception access, gender-based violence prevention and survivor support, youth, and people with disability inclusion.
- Experience working with innovative OTS software as part of developing infographics, reports, and videos (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Excellent website and social media content development skills; familiarity with WordPress is a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and manage a variety of tasks with multiple deadlines
- Spoken and written English
Functional skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent English and French writing, editing and presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Canva, social analytical tools
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, and very high attention to detail
- Ability to work well with a wide variety of people in a fast-paced environment within a complex organization, in person and virtually
- Ability to work independently, with a strong ethic of accountability.
- Ability to plan, balance and cope with competing priorities.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public health, international development, social sciences, business administration, or related area
- Experience
- Experience of developing, writing, and designing social medias materials and web stories
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, engaging and grammatically correct content for diverse audiences
- Experience and knowledge of the principles and techniques of mass communication, social media, and digital communication methods, including a comprehensive understanding of how to communicate information to diverse multilingual communities
- Practical knowledge and proven experience managing multiple social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube)
- Experience in developing institutional experience and provide advice to the leadership including remark
- Design experience, including use of Adobe Suite and Canva.
- Experience working in the sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equity, human rights, and/or humanitarian sectors, preferably at a global health or human rights NGO.
Preferred qualifications & skills
- Fluent French and English language skills
- Prefer previous knowledge and experience of health communication and/or social media principals.
- Experience managing multiple social media and communication channels
- Understanding of Ipas’s programs and standards
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, Teams).
Working environment:
- Remote or Kinshasa, DRC office based.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% domestically (with occasional regional or global trips if applicable)
